🗂️  Managing Announcements

You have complete control over how you interact with announcements. The system is designed to be non-intrusive and customizable to suit your preferences.

Announcements’ Visibility in the Admin Area

Announcements appear as notices in specific areas of your WordPress admin dashboard to avoid being intrusive. They are visible only on:
  • All Asset CleanUp plugin pages (except for the actual “Announcements” tab in “Settings” — “Plugin Usage Preferences”, to avoid showing an already visible announcement at the top of the page)
  • The Dashboard (main widgets area) – URI: /wp-admin/index.php
  • The “Plugins” page – URI: /wp-admin/plugins.php
  • The “General Settings” page – URI: /wp-admin/options-general.php
Every announcement that shows at the top of the mentioned pages, includes the following actions:
  • Mark as Seen: Once you’ve read an announcement, mark it as seen to prevent it from appearing again.
  • Snooze: Choose to be reminded about the announcement later if you’re not ready to act immediately.
  • Never show plugin announcements: Disable all announcements globally if you prefer not to receive any announcement.
Note: Announcements are hidden dynamically via AJAX when you click Mark as Seen or Snooze. If an announcement is not closing as expected, it is likely due to JavaScript errors in your browser’s console. In such cases, open the action link in a new tab to ensure the action is performed correctly.

Announcements Manager

You can manage all announcements from the dedicated Announcements tab within the plugin. To access it:
  1. Navigate to “Settings” — “Plugin Usage Preferences” — “Announcements” (URI: /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpassetcleanup_settings&wpacu_selected_tab_area=wpacu-setting-plugin-usage-settings&wpacu_selected_sub_tab_area=wpacu-plugin-usage-settings-announcements) from the WordPress admin menu.
  2. Enable or disable the global “Show announcements” setting (if it’s disabled, the list of announcements shown below will be faded, suggesting the fact that they are inactive).
  3. View all announcements, including those marked as snoozed and seen.
  4. Mark specific announcements as seen or unseen as needed.

đź’ˇ FAQs

Q: Will I receive spammy or irrelevant announcements?

A: No. Announcements are strictly related to the plugin’s performance, updates, and your benefits. We do not use this feature for irrelevant content.

Q: Can I revisit an announcement after marking it as seen?

A: Yes. All announcements, including seen ones, remain accessible in the “Announcements Manager” for your reference.

Q: What happens if I disable “Show announcements”?

A: This will disable all announcements globally. No announcements will appear in the admin area, but you can still manage this setting from the “Announcements Manager”.

Q: What should I do if clicking “Mark as Seen” or “Snooze” does not work?

A: If the announcement does not close after clicking an action, check your browser’s console for JavaScript errors. These errors might interfere with the AJAX functionality. As a workaround, open the action link in a new tab to ensure the action is performed.

âś…  Conclusion

The “Announcements” feature in Asset CleanUp is a valuable tool for staying connected with updates and opportunities that enhance your experience. With flexible controls and a user-friendly manager, you decide how to engage with the information that matters most to you.
